Upon her return to the UK, Nina was part of a pilot Older Persons Liaison and Rehabilitation team in Gateshead before joining Stockport NHS Foundation Trust as the Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist for Neurological Rehabilitation.
She initiated service developments in stroke and neurological rehabilitation regionally and locally, contributing to the North West Task Force and Greater Manchester Research & Audit Group.
Nina graduated from Nottingham University with an MSc in Rehabilitation in 2004, her research project was a study of the speed and symmetry of sit-to-stand in post stroke adults at different stages of recovery.

Neuro Matters was established by Nina Smith, who has 16 years of extensive and varied neurological rehabilitation experience.
Nina qualified from Edinburgh in 1993 with a BSc (Hons) Degree in Physiotherapy. She worked in Norfolk from 1993-1996 where she gained a broad range of junior experience and specialised neurological skills as a Senior Physiotherapist. Nina then travelled and worked overseas, gaining experience in several rehabilitation centres in Australia as well as treating Aboriginal people in remote area communities.

Fully Bobath and Saeboflex trained, Nina is committed to her ongoing professional development. She is passionate about using new research developments and creative thinking to enhance her clients' treatment outcomes, eg EMG Biofeedback, Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) and the Nintendo Wii.
Nina has a special interest in fitness training and self-practice in neurological rehabilitation; she provides exercise programmes to groups as well as individuals with neurological disorders.
Nina enjoys treating people at different stages of their rehabilitation and works in close partnership with each individual and their family to help them achieve their goals.
